The position

The Research and Development (R&D) Project Manager in the food industry plays a crucial role in innovation and the continuous improvement of products and processes. This professional is responsible for leading projects to develop new products or improve existing ones, taking into account technical, regulatory, and economic constraints.

  • Product development: Design and develop new products or improve the existing range, from the initial idea to industrial production, adhering to quality standards, food safety, and consumer expectations.
  • Project management: Manage the complete lifecycle of R&D projects, including defining requirements, tracking schedules, drafting specifications, and controlling costs.
  • Interdepartmental collaboration: Work closely with the sales, quality, production, and purchasing teams to ensure R&D projects are aligned with the strategic objectives of the company.
  • Innovation and improvement: Identify and propose improvements in terms of processes, raw materials, and packaging to optimize product performance and reduce production costs.
  • Technological and regulatory monitoring: Maintain ongoing awareness of technological innovations and regulatory changes in the food industry to anticipate market needs and legal requirements.

Profile requirements

  • Qualifications: Engineering degree in food science or a related field, complemented by significant experience in R&D within the food industry.
  • Experience: Successful initial experience as an R&D Project Manager, R&D Engineer, or in a similar role, with a thorough knowledge of project management techniques.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational skills, ability to drive initiatives, passion for the food industry, strong listening and communication skills, flexibility, adaptability, and a robust team spirit.

Remuneration

The salary for the position of R&D Project Manager in the food industry varies based on experience, specific skills, and the geographical location of the company. On average, it ranges from €40,000 to €60,000 gross per year, with possible variations depending on the company’s size, the level of expertise required, and the responsibilities assigned to the position.
